Dear future husband
I'm waiting to meet you in this lifetime

Do you think of me?
Do I exist in your mind as a prayer?
A quiet imagination in your head in the quiet moments of your day
When you want to share what happened with me
Until you realise I’m not really there, (not yet at least)
Am I the part of your soul you’re waiting for?
When you think of me
Do you think of the way the sunlight filters through the trees
Or the way the moon reflects on the rivers that run between us?
Do you feel warmth in your heart like staying in bed in the morning when everything is just right
Or the feeling of your stomach hurting after laughing too much?
Do you imagine my hair tickling your chest when we lay beside each other
Or my breath against your neck when we fall asleep watching movies?
Do you feel the goosebumps
Just thinking of us sitting together under a night sky
Watching the stars move as our heartbeats sync?
Do you feel your cheeks ache from just imagining
Us smiling together as we waste our Sunday doing nothing useful at all
And staying up until 4am talking about everything and nothing at all?
I do. You exist in my mind as a whispered prayer to God before I sleep, as a lyric of a song that makes my heart ache, a daydream as I walk home imagining every scenario under the sun. Your blurry eyes and blurry smile blur into my heart, staining it the colour of longing until we find each other in this life, and the next, and the next.
Can’t wait to see you again.
